Course overview

The juvenile justice system, much like the adult justice system, has a high number of youth with behavioral health issues. It is important for professionals who provide services to justice-involved youth to have information on common behavioral health concerns among justice-involved youth and effective approaches to addressing those concerns within the context of the legal system. The goal of this course is to provide entry-level behavioral health professionals with education about common stressors and behavioral health concerns of justice-involved youth, effective screening, assessment, and intervention strategies, as well as what aspects of treatment are helpful to share with juvenile justice personnel.
