Sepsis in LTC: A Medical Emergency

Course overview

Sepsis in older adults may be difficult to identify early due to changes associated with age, the immune system, chronic medical conditions, and other factors. Early recognition of the signs and symptoms of sepsis or potential sepsis in this population is critical to prevent or minimize the disabilities and morbidity associated with sepsis. This activity focuses on early recognition of sepsis in this population and the interventions to rapidly address the change in resident condition.
