Course overview

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to 1. Explain recommendations from the American College of Cardiology American Heart Association guidelines for treatment of patients with hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, chronic coronary disease, peripheral arterial disease, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation. 2. Identify how future cardiovascular risk is estimated in primary prevention patients using the Pooled Cohort Equations and PREVENT calculator. 3. List recommendations from the ACC Expert Consensus Decision Pathway for nonstatins and treatment of hypertriglyceridemia. 4. List guideline recommendations supporting the use of antiplatelet therapy for primary prevention patients. 5. Summarize the evidence-based CV risk reduction benefits of medications used to treat overweight and obese patients. 6. Recognize the role of colchicine in the prevention of CV events. 7. Select treatment plans that reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
