Course overview

This course summarizes the general understanding of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) from a Western medical perspective, including medical diagnosis, mechanisms, and general treatments. The course primarily discusses GERD from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In addition to presenting the basic TCM etiology and pathogenesis of (GERD), TCM syndrome differentiation types, acupuncture, TCM treatments, and non-pharmacological interventions for GERD, this course further summarizes the TCM understanding and treatment of GERD from the perspective of ancient literature and classical prescriptions.
