Nearly one-third of people over the age of 65 fall every year. That percentage increases to up to 50% of people by the age of 80. Fall prevention programs have been shown to have positive effects. Physical and occupational therapists are in the optimal position to both treat the sequelae of and prevent falls in older adults. This course will provide strategies to systematically assess and treat factors related to fall risk. Clinicians will be able to immediately implement a variety of treatment techniques in both the clinic and home, which will improve patient outcomes during functional activities of daily living and reduce the risk of falls.
