Burn injuries are a significant global health challenge causing an estimated 180 000 deaths per year. Non-fatal burn injuries can profoundly impact an individual's physical emotional and social well-being. Effective burn injury management requires a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach with rehabilitation professionals playing an important role. This course introduces complications associated with burns such as pain pruritus oedema and hypertrophic scarring and their management strategies. It also provides a brief overview of the surgical management of burn injuries. This course aims to introduce rehabilitation professionals to key principles of burn injury management.
