Course overview
Domestic violence is any form of maltreatment between people who share a residence, such as partners, family members, or housemates. It originally referred to physical abuse between two married people or those in an intimate relationship, but has since broadened to encompass psychological and emotional abuse, sexual assault, and financial control. It is now seen as a major health problem, with governments responding by introducing laws, policies, and education and support services for victims.
