Course overview

This course is designed to meet the one-hour requirement for behavioral health professionals in crisis management and disaster response. It addresses crisis/disaster planning, assessment, communication skills, interventions, resources, and strategies for crisis prevention. Evidence based models to de-escalate a crisis situation and assist clients to cope with stress and trauma are presented. Crisis situations addressed in this course include suicidal and homicidal ideation, abuse/neglect, and domestic/intimate partner violence. Emphasis is placed on current research and evidence-based models of crisis management.
