Course overview

Physical and occupational therapy professionals must leverage the principles of neuroplasticity to facilitate the return of motor function after neural injury. After taking this course, learners will understand the process of neuroplasticity as it relates to the recovery of fine motor control. Best practices in objective measures and interventions are presented and modeled in a series of case studies. Recommendations and innovative ideas to support adherence to interventions outside of therapy sessions are discussed to help therapists maximize their patients' functional outcomes. This course provides occupational and physical therapy professionals with an understanding of the key principles of neuroplasticity and how to select interventions and strategies that support patient compliance and improve outcomes.
