Course overview
Low vision conditions can have a significant impact on a person's ability to participate in therapy. This module provides physical and occupational therapy practitioners with an overview of the pathophysiology of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration, current medical treatment options, and common clinical presentations. Best practices to accommodate for vision impairment during treatment sessions and support activity of daily living (ADL) performance, reduce fall risk, and prevent complications associated with these eye conditions are discussed. This course provides physical and occupational therapy providers with an introduction to diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration and how to accommodate the related impairments in treatment sessions.
