Course overview
This online training course on dementia for CNAs has been developed in an interdisciplinary process for establishing standards of care and training in best practices for the care of nursing home residents with dementia. This course recognizes the nursing home resident as the focus and emphasizes improved care and improved quality of life for nursing home residents with dementia through education. At the conclusion of this training module, the CNA will be able to: 1. Describe ADLs and understand the loss of ability that happens in dementia. 2. Explain why it is important that the resident remains independent in ADLs. 3. Show ways to help residents gain more independence in ADLs. 4. Include residents' personal values, preferences, and beliefs in how you care for them.
