Course overview
Residents with dementia who need assistance with bathing often find the activity to be physically demanding and emotionally sttressful, as does the CNA. The Alzheimers Association has researched this probelm and has identified contributing factors to include, but not limited to - confusion, anxiety, fatigue, weakness, fear of falling, embarassment, discomfort from cold, discomfort from noisy environment, and discomfort from cold and/or harsh water sprays. At the conclusion of this training module the CNA will be able to- 1. List 4 contributing factors that the Alzheimers Association has identified in regards to a stressful bathing situation. 2. Define forced bathing. 3. Discuss steps to improve the shower or bath experience. 4. Understand how you, as a direct caregiver can make the shower or bath experience not a battle.
