The Ohio Nurse Practice Act is a set of regulations and rules defining the certification and licensure, pre-licensure education, discipline, and the standards of practice of nurses and certified medication aides in Ohio that aim at public protection and safety. Information on the Nurse Practice Act is also in the Ohio Revised Code (ORC). The ORC is a list of revisions that expand on the Administrative Code and the Nurse Practice Act and the ORC can be viewed online at Ohio Laws & Administrative Rules Ohio Revised Code. Consideration is given by the Ohio Board of Nursing to public safety, specifically where nursing practice appears deficient and has caused harm. The Ohio Nurse Practice Act mandates that all nurses share knowledge as part of their professional role. Nurses are also required to maintain their skills. The standards of practice will be discussed for Registered Nurses, Licenced Vocational Nurses, and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses.
