Course overview

This 60-minute training incorporates various factors that affect individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families, particularly when experiencing a crisis. Professionals will learn about the history of autism spectrum disorder as it is currently understood, the range of signs & symptoms of ASD and effective approaches to support the wellbeing of clients and callers. Professionals will learn about supportive responses and interventions to assist clients with ASD and their caregivers. Objectives: 1. Distinguish the signs and symptoms of ASD and accompanying factors that contribute to crisis with individuals diagnosed with ASD. 2. Describe effective approaches in the treatment of ASD, along with supportive interventions for caregivers. 3. Accurately identify ways to incorporate effective strategies in managing a crisis with individuals with ASD and their caregivers.
