Course overview

This course is designed to reacquaint appraisers with Fair Housing Laws and how they not only affect Real Estate sales professionals but how they can affect the mortgage appraisal and appraiser. The study of specific Fair Housing laws, language and penalties will be covered along with current issues to include Relevant Appraisal Bias cases. Discussion of current FHFA/FANNIE and FREDDIE's guidelines regarding subjective and disallowed language in the mortgage appraisal including FNMA Loan Collateral Advisor program introduced in June of 2023. A look at the past regarding redlining and its effect on the present-day appraisal process and values. An in depth look at the P.A.V.E. task force and its effects on the appraisal profession. Finally, how appraisers can recognize bias both explicit and implicit in their appraisal profession and in the day to day business world. This course fulfills the 7-hour Fair Housing appraiser continuing education requirement.
