Course overview

This course aims to educate about the dangers and outcomes of drug and alcohol (or substance) use. According to the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics, almost 15% of Americans aged 12 and over used illicit drugs in the last month, with a projected 3.8% increase each year. Likewise, 20.4% of Americans in the same age group have an alcohol use disorder. By the end of the course, you'll be able to recognize various addictive substances and understand the significance of these substances in fire and emergency services. Additionally, you'll learn about the role of an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and other resources in supporting a healthy workplace.
