Hi Ho Silver Stains! This workshop will delve into the background, the science and the "voodoo" of silver stains. Silver techniques are employed in many essential histopathology stains such as Bielschowky, GMS, Steiner, Jones and others. We will look at the historical background of silver stains and the people involved in their development. There is a distinct science employed to obtain good silver staining and we will discuss what needs to be in place for optimal staining results. Yet sometimes when a silver stain gallops out of control, it comes down to a bit of "voodoo" to get it to work properly. And New Orleans is just the place to discuss "voodoo"!
