Course overview

Kidney pathology is a very interesting subdivision of histology since it deals with very subtle differences in the kidney structure. In most cases immunohistochemistry hepls to mark otherwise not distinguishable changes in different kidney diseases or support tumor diagnosis. New entities especially in kidney tumors can now be distinguished by light microscopy thanks to antibodies. In this workshop we will demonstrate how to validate antibodies as well as discuss technical difficulties that arise in the kidney regarding specificity of immunostaining.
