Spatial biology is the study of tissues within their own context, which has become increasingly important in immuno-oncology because of the need to understand complex tumor microenvironment architecture, especially regarding the immune contexture in and around solid tumors. The main methods for understanding the spatial biology of tumors has been the use of multi-marker staining and multiplexed imaging methods in FFPE sections multiplex pathology and the analysis of the biodistribution of RNA markers in tissues spatial transcriptomics . Each of these methods can produce many gorgeous, information-rich images; however, interpreting those and extracting relevant information using quantitative pathology methods can be difficult without pathology-specific software.
