Course overview
The inspection of stained slides requires histology knowledge of which tissue elements should be staining and the correct color of each. Examples: the 3 tones of eosin between RBC, collagen and muscle; a trichrome showing red muscle and blue or green collagen; PAX8 in the kidney tubules; p63 for the basal cells of the prostate. This presentation will review the histology of common tissues received in the pathology laboratory and the correct staining patterns (H&E, special stains, IHC) that should be observed.
