Advancing in your career from lab manager to director and even senior executive requires a set of knowledge and skills that are not taught in histotechnology school. These are advanced techniques that will enable you to begin visualizing strategic trends to set your lab up for success five or ten years down the road. This workshop will begin by imparting knowledge to help you better understand the how-to of process improvement methods, which will help you make an immediate impact in your new role. Financial management follows, where you will better understand principles that can help you better influence senior executives who may not be histotechnology professionals. These constructs will include financial statement analysis, capital and funding strategies, and financial risk assessment. We will conclude with imparting competencies for effective organizational and HR management, such as conflict resolution, negotiation, decision making, and problem solving and competencies devoted to helping your develop your leadership tool box.
