This course examines pain management and ways to reduce chances of the patient developing OUD by using other methods for treating pain. It includes: the scope of the problem of pain, opioid analgesics, non-opioid pharmacologic treatments, interventional pain therapies, non-pharmacologic treatments, differences in pain experiences and treatment effectiveness among sub-populations, and the intersection between pain and opioid use disorder.
