COURSE DESCRIPTION A COMBINATION OF SEVERAL RESEARCH ARTICLES ON CURRENT GENETIC AND NEURODEVELOPMENTAL FACTORS TO SCHIZOPHRENIA. COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. EVALUATE CURRENT RESEARCH ON THE GENETIC AND NEURODEVELOPMENTAL CONTRIBUTORS TO SCHIZOPHRENIA. 2. IDENTIFY STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL BRAIN ABNORMALITIES IN THE DISORDER. 3. RECOGNIZE PRENATAL FACTORS IN SCHIZOPHRENIA INCLUDING ENDOGENOUS FACTORS SUCH AS PREGNANCY AND BIRTH COMPLICATIONS AND EXOGENOUS FACTORS INCLUDING SEASON OF BIRTH MATERNAL INFECTIONS TOXINS AND NUTRITIONAL ISSUES. 4. DETERMINE HOW SOCIAL AND EMOTIONALFACTORS CONTRIBUTE TO SCHIZOPHRENIA WHILE IDENTIFYING PSYCHOSOCIAL TREATMENTSLONGTERM OUTCOMES PROGNOSIS AND RECOVERY FOR THE DISORDER.
