Organoids are three-dimensional miniaturized versions of organs or tissues that are derived from cells. These cells self-organize and differentiate into 3D cell masses, recapitulating the morphology and functions of their in vivo counterparts. An overview will be presented that describes the development and current advances in the field of organoids and focus on the application of this model in basic biology and clinical research. We will discuss their limitations and future applications to understanding complex biology. This session will provide a valuable reference for the application of organoid technologies in histopathology and drug discovery
