Course overview

Children and young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are often referred to physical and occupational therapy to evaluate and treat musculoskeletal disorders and other functional impairments. ASD can present with a wide range of social, behavioral, and physical dysfunctions that can make engagement in therapy challenging. In this course, occupational and physical therapy professionals will learn how to adjust their treatment approach to effectively support participation and engagement for this population. This goal of this course is to provide physical and occupational therapy practitioners with best practices to improve patient engagement of individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
