Course overview

As the global population ages, the prevalence of dementia is rising dramatically. The most common form of this condition is Alzheimer's disease (AD). The search to understand this disease encompasses multiple areas of study in biology, social status, genetics, lifestyle, and other factors. Even a cursory investigation reveals that these factors are overlapping and interacting. This short course will investigate the effect AD has on functional and occupational participation. It will also examine the role of exercise in preventing and possibly treating Alzheimer's disease, acknowledging both the isolated effects of exercise and its function in the complex interplay of contributing components.
