THE ROLE OF SKIN PERFUSION PRESSURE MEASUREMENT IN WOUND CARE & HYPERBARIC MEDICINE EVALUATION

Course overview

This 1.0 hour CE course is intended for a wide audience of health care providers involved in advanced wound care management, including the registered nurse, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, physical therapist, physician, physician's assistant, and others. Skin Perfusion Pressure (SPP) is quickly becoming a standard noninvasive diagnostic tool assessing microcirculatory health and is an objective indicator of healing potential and disease severity. The technology utilizes laser doppler and pressure cuff to evaluate reactive hyperemia and measures pressure at which blood flow first returns to capillaries during controlled release of occlusive pressure. The clinical data provides: • Timely diagnosis • Optimal treatment plan development • Diagnosis and monitoring of patients with non-healing ulcers, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), critical limb ischemia (CLI), diabetes mellitus (DM), and renal compromise • Documentation of circulatory health pre-and post-therapy • Compression wrap therapy • Hyperbaric medicine patient selection
