Course overview

This course is an overview of the surgical experience as an open and dynamic interaction among the patient, surgeon, anesthesia care provider, and nurse. This course describes the purpose and settings of surgery, preoperative nursing assessment, preparation of the surgical patient, purposes and types of common preoperative medications and the components and purpose of the informed consent.
