Course overview

The 2.25 hour BIG for LIFE Online Training Course provides LSVT BIG Certified Clinicians with the tools and knowledge needed to start and run post-discharge BIG for LIFE exercise classes in their communities for people who have completed LSVT BIG treatment. This course is an advanced level course offered to physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants who already have training and knowledge in LSVT BIG as demonstrated by successful certification in LSVT BIG. The research-based rationale for community-based exercise for people with Parkinson disease will be reviewed, along with information on how to structure and design BIG for LIFE classes tailored for a variety of individuals. Ethical and legal considerations as well as marketing strategies will be discussed. Teaching methods of this asynchronous online course include pre-recorded lectures with slides and videos, in addition to electronic handouts and resources. A 15-question multiple choice examination will be given at the end with an 80% score required to pass. Retakes are allowed.
