Ergonomics is an area of workplace safety assessment that physical and occupational therapists are ideally suited to address. Ergonomic evaluations or assessments can be completed remotely via telehealth, in the clinical practice setting, or the gold standard, in the patient's work environment. Workplace injuries in the United States cost employers an average of 167 billion dollars per year, indicating that clinicians can serve a valuable role in establishing workplace safety practices for all industries. This course will provide the foundation for understanding what technological applications are currently available to assess ergonomic risk factors in both remote and onsite work locations, develop an easy-to-utilize functional ergonomic evaluation template for various industries, and provide clinicians with the tools to begin their own ergonomic assessment business!
