Course overview
The cerebrum is the largest anatomical area of the human brain. Its major functions include controlling voluntary movements of the body sensation memory emotions and executive functioning. The cerebral cortex is the outer layer of the cerebrum. It represents the grey matter of the cerebrum and is involved in many functions including motor function planning and organisation personality processing sensory information and language. By understanding the function and processing power of the cerebral cortex rehabilitation professionals will be better able to interact and effectively manipulate cues and motor input during therapeutic interventions. This course provides an introduction to the cerebrum and cerebral cortex and discusses clinical syndromes associated with various regions of the cerebral cortex. This course aims to introduce the anatomy and physiology of the cerebrum and cerebral cortex to the rehabilitation professional.
