Course overview
A thorough dysphagia assessment can help with the early identification management prevention and mitigation of complications related to swallowing difficulties. It facilitates optimal nutritional support and can enhance overall patient health outcomes. Various healthcare professionals including speech and language therapists physicians nurses physiotherapists and occupational therapists can be involved in different levels of dysphagia screening depending on their level of training. While there is currently no consensus on the best screening techniques for dysphagia this course provides an overview of the most common non-instrumental and instrumental assessments. This course aims to provide a brief overview of clinical and instrumental assessments for dysphagia.
