Course overview
Most patients with life-threatening or potentially life-threatening problems arrive at the hospital through the emergency department (ED). Many more patients report to the ED for less urgent conditions. Over 115 million people visit EDs annually and this number is increasing every year for a variety of reasons. This course focuses on triage, initial assessment, and management of the emergency patient. In addition, it presents an overview of issues related to violence, terrorism, and emergency and disaster preparedness.
