Course overview

Disorders of written expression (e.g., dysgraphia) are commonly overlooked and underdiagnosed due to the high comorbidity rate with other conditions such as ADHD and ASD. This 90-minute, highly practical, view-on-demand, recorded webinar reviews key signals demonstrated by students with writing disorders. It examines the developmental stages of writing so appropriate intervention starting points can be created. A multitude of immediately usable strategies and tools are provided to address the emotional, cognitive, and motoric blocks faced by many. At the end of this course, you will be able to (1) identify common comorbid conditions with disorders or written expression; (2) list the developmental stages of written expression, and (3) state three foundational strategies for building successful, confident writers. This distance-learning, independent format is offered at 0.15 CEUs, Introductory Level, OT Service Delivery, and targeted to introductory- to intermediate-level OTs, COTAs, SLPs, teachers, and other pediatric professionals.
