Pulse Wave massage uses pulsating pressure to avoid the harm and contraindications to the patient that often accompanies held pressure or deep fiber friction, while greatly reducing the risk of damage to the practitioner's joints and tissue. REACH GREATER DEPTHS - A pulse wave penetrates deeper than held pressure as it continues into the tissue far beyond the last point of therapist contact - often throughout the entire body - stimulating circulation and spinal fluid movement. The rocking and undulating of the tissue caused by the pulsating waves also helps nourish and unlock the intervertebral discs. REDUCE STRESS LEVELS WHILE ENHANCING PAIN MANAGEMENT - Pain inevitably triggers the body's defensive response and the fear of further pain, which produces an unhealthy hormonal cascade associated with anxiety. The Pulse Wave technique doe snot cause pain fostering trust and relaxation that reduces stress and allows for the possibility of achieving the Delta Wave threshold and all the healing benefits associated with this state of relaxation (reduced cortisol levels, serotonin and dopamine release, and the massive increase in levels of growth hormone, tumor necrosis factor, and interleukin). COLLATERAL TISSUE RELAXATION - Even deep techniques that cause low to moderate pain create tension that accumulates in the surrounding tissue, building with each occurrence of pain. With Pulse Wave technique, not only is the collateral tension eliminated, but there is also a beneficial collateral massaging effect to the surrounding tissue as the waves of force travel far beyond the pulsating point of pressure. This can enhance ROM. The Pulse Wave approach to deep work also protects the practitioner from the dangers held tension presents to the practitioner's tensons, ligaments, and joints.
