Course overview

This training will examine the prevalence of anxiety disorders in adolescents. The session will examine the different types of anxiety disorders, including those most common among adolescents today. The session will focus on specific skills/interventions that can be utilized when treating adolescents both in person and over the phone. The training will also distinguish between skill-building for preventing crisis and interventions for treating those already in crisis. Objectives: 1. Review generalized anxiety disorders and related anxiety disorders as defined by the DSM-V. 2. Identify at least 3 interventions to utilize when adolescents are experiencing distress stemming from anxiety. 3. Review the prevalence of anxiety disorders in adolescents and identify skills to assist in preventing crisis situations.
