The disconnect between evidence and action is clear in cognitive therapy. Many current practices are outdated and no longer evidence based. But therapists now have a new set of 2023 Guidelines to help them plan and implement engaging evidence based cognitive therapy. An expert panel of clinicians and researchers (known as INCOG) developed guidelines for TBI patients based on a review of the most current research. This course dives into the new guidelines for therapists aiming to perform updated evidence based cognitive therapy. A lot has changed in the last decade! There is help in planning your treatment and providing more functional therapy that works! INCOG 2.0 provides 5 sets of guidelines including the domains of 1.) Posttraumatic Amnesia, 2.) Attention and Information Processing, 3.) Executive Functions, 4.) Cognitive-Communication and Social Cognition Disorders, and 5.) Memory. This course will provide specific evidenced based therapy interventions for each domain. Old therapy practices that we know do not work will be reviewed. Medications to assist physicians in decision making will be presented. Audit tools to ensure the most important interventions are being implemented in your practice are also explained.
