Course overview
The objective of this course is to expose practitioners to the basic concepts of channel Theory in an effort to deepen the therapeutic effects of acupuncture and expand clinical tools. We will endeavor to convey the richness and profound impact of acupuncture beyond the primary meridians. Practitioners will receive a general overview of the secondary vessels, their functions and their indications for use. This course will teach the concept of “channel’ + in traditional Chinese medicine, and explain why the primary meridians are not enough to treat many disease processes. This course will discuss the morphology and flow of the qi in the channels, the types of qi (wei, ying and yuan), the Huang Gao, Cou Li and the San Jiao. This course will include an introduction to the secondary vessels and their importance in diagnosis and treatment strategies, the Tendino-Muscular Meridians, the Luo-Collaterals, the Divergent Meridians and the 8 Extraordinary Vessels.
