Course overview

This is a comprehensive course that was filmed over two days, covering the foundational discussion on the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, gout and osteo-arthritis. Dr. Yan’s lifetime of experience comes to bear as she systematically goes over the main disease categories. Dr. Yan knows the key points to differentiate the presentation from her years of experience and she also knows which herbs truly work for each presentation. As Jiao Shu-de did before her, she bases her treatment on classic Shang Han Lun formulas such as Gui Zhi Shao Yao Zhi Mu Tang, Yi Yi Ren Tang, Si Ni Tang etc. These formulas are modified and added to according to the presentation. She then goes into how many individual herbs function to treat these recalcitrant illnesses. Dr. Yan has done research on how to substitute herbs for unavailable herbs such as Fu Zi and Ma Huang. These substitutions are based on years of research, which she shares with her audience. This course will give practitioners of Chinese Herbal Medicine the proven tools they need to confidently treat patients with serious, systemic and painful Bi syndromes. Dr. Yan helps us integrate the fact that many of our patients are involved in western allopathic treatments while under our care and how to help patients discontinue the use of steroidal medications.
