Healthcare professionals often find themselves at the frontline of care, where emotions and tensions can escalate quickly. Workplace violence (WPV), domestic violence, and gun violence are interconnected in profound and alarming ways, often overlapping in both their risk factors and consequences. Gun violence dramatically increases the lethality of violent incidents. Addressing the Growing Threat of Violence course explores the types and forms of violence, from verbal threats to physical altercations, equipping professionals and organizations with de-escalation strategies and safety protocols. By fostering a culture of awareness, prevention, and empathy, it is possible to create safer environments at the individual and community levels. Advocacy through organizations and legislation can also make a difference in these complex issues.
