This is the first in a series of courses dedicated to optimizing the use of laser therapy in veterinary practice. This course will focus on the most effective techniques for applying laser therapy to the joints of canine patients. Sara Granburg, DVN, CCRP, and Lauren Bueter, BS, RVT, CCRP, CCMT, owners of Michiana Animal Rehab Services, will present as a team and demonstrate how to use different therapy lasers to target canine joint structures. They will provide both anatomical descriptions and video demonstrations to ensure thorough saturation of all joint structures with photonic energy, resulting in consistent clinical outcomes. The course includes sections on the fundamentals of laser therapy, various application techniques demonstrating on and off contact, scanning and point-to-point delivery, and safety. Followed by sections on each joint structure unique to the canine patient: the joint structures of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, the scapulohumeral joint, the humeral-radial-ulnar joints, the carpal joint, the metacarpal joints, the interphalangeal joints of both the fore and hind limbs, the sacroiliac joint, the coxofemoral joint, the stifle joint, the tarsal joints, and the metatarsophalangeal joints.
