This program will provide nurses with information about the multidrug-resistant pathogen vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) in healthcare settings and infection prevention practice to reduce its spread. Readers will be able to: describe the epidemiology and severity of VRE, identify three factors that put patients at risk of VRE infection, and state three strategies to prevent and control the spread of VRE in healthcare facilities
