Course overview

This program will update healthcare providers' understanding of metabolic syndrome and its implications in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. Readers will be able to: define metabolic syndrome as it relates to insulin’s normal mechanism of action, discuss the relationship of type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease in metabolic syndrome, and discuss current and future practice guidelines used in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease as they relate to insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome.
