Treating Edema prepares manual therapists to safely and effectively treat patients that present with edema. This course provides therapists with the confidence to apply effective therapist-patient communication and treatment planning for patients that present with edema and lymphatic dysfunction. This course provides a review of the common causes of edema and enables therapists to learn how to effectively treat edema in various conditions and states of healing. Treating Edema will allow therapists to review key precautions, contraindications, and reasons to refer the patient, including emergency medical treatment. Therapists will learn a variety of manual techniques that promote the drainage of edema, as well as home care strategies for patients to manage their symptoms. Together with Understanding the Lymphatic System and Assessing Edema, learners will develop a well-rounded understanding of the lymphatic system, common lymphatic system conditions, and how to confidently assess and treat edema in their clinical practice.
