(HS Le Roux 150044 2024) Theory of Mind
Tracking # 20-1252500
Course overview
Autistic clients often struggle with social interactions, particularly when conversations require understanding another's perspective. This challenge stems from difficulties in interoception, the internal sense of one's physiological state, which can become overactive or underactive during social situations. The dual task of managing personal emotions while considering another's viewpoint can be overwhelming. Join Maude Le Roux, OTR/L, where you'll learn to incorporate theory of mind, empathy negotiation, and the balance of self-awareness with social responsiveness into your interventions. You'll discover a comprehensive framework for designing interventions that respect neurodiversity while empowering autistic clients to express their thoughts more effectively in social contexts. By focusing on these key areas, you'll be better equipped to support autistic individuals in overcoming barriers to social communication.
