Course overview

Substance misuse is one of the critical public health problems of our time. The most recent data on substance use, misuse, and substance use disorders reveal that the problem is deepening and the consequences are becoming more deadly than ever. Substance use and misuse have risk and protective factors that can be identified, evidence based prevention interventions can be applied that have been demonstrated to reduce misuse. The cost of these programs are easily offset by the associated costs treating substance misuse.
