Course overview

On a daily basis, clinicians help patients manage their soft tissue pain and dysfunction. 14-24% of women experience chronic pelvic pain in their lives and there are more than 2 million office visits per year for chronic pelvic pain syndrome in men. In addition, many active women and men experience chronic lower abdominal, anterior hip, and/or groin pain related to their sports and fitness activities. There are a variety of tools available to the practicing clinician that range from massage, electrical modalities, as well as other forms of manual therapy. Dry needling is an accepted manual therapy treatment (2014 APTA Guide to Clinical Practice) used to address the unique characteristics of soft tissue pain. In order to legally practice dry needling, clinicians must fulfill the guidelines set by their licensure board in the state which they practice. These state guidelines will often require a minimum number of hours of a continuing education training. This continuing education course provides a solid framework to deliver effective and safe dry needling treatment. The course is presented by the Integrative Dry Needling Institute are taught solely by Physical Therapists.
