Course overview
This 3-hour, engaging, view-on-demand, recorded webinar provides occupational therapists an opportunity to explore the power of crawling-based interventions based on the Crawling for Brain Development curriculum. As a fundamental developmental milestone, crawling is crucial in promoting sensory processing, motor coordination, and cognitive skills across the lifespan. Participants learn the neurological and physiological benefits of crawling and how to integrate crawling-based strategies into therapy sessions to support children with developmental delays, sensory challenges, and retained primitive reflexes. Through evidence-based techniques, video demonstrations, and hands-on activities, attendees receive actionable tools to improve overall brain function, enhance sensory-motor pathways, and facilitate more effective therapeutic outcomes. Participants leave with a roadmap to implement the program in school and/or community settings. Join us to unlock the potential of crawling as a dynamic therapeutic tool and empower the children you work with to thrive in their developmental journey! BONUS: This course includes a digital copy of the Crawling for Brain Development curriculum. At the end of this course, you will be able to (1) identify if an individual has sensory and/or primitive reflex challenges that are impacting their daily activities, (2) list the functional implications on academic skills when a child skips the crawling milestone, (3) state three strategies to successfully implement a crawling program with students in a classroom setting, (4) identify four benefits of crawling on hands and knees across the lifespan, and (5) list two modifications to improve compensatory crawling movements and positions. This distance-learning, independent format is offered at 0.3 CEUs, Introductory Level, OT Service Delivery, Foundational Knowledge, and targeted to introductory- to intermediate-level OTs, COTAs, parents, and other pediatric professionals. The course instructor, Rachel Harrington, COTA/L, CPRCS, is a pediatric occupational therapy assistant, passionate about sensory integration, primitive reflexes, and early intervention. In October 2020, Rachel took over Sensational Brain, previously owned by Gwen Wild, MOT, OTR/L, in which she has rebranded and expanded into new courses, products, and more!
