Introduction to Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Adults

Course overview

Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in adults is a problem that has significant negative impact on quality of life and function. CIPN affects a large percentage of cancer patients and is well-suited to rehabilitation interventions. Despite this, CIPN has been underappreciated in rehabilitation education. This introductory course provides background information about CIPN and establishes the foundation necessary for the series' subsequent courses on evaluation and treatment of CIPN in adults. This course includes videotaped interviews with people who have CIPN and highlights their experiences with the diagnosis. This course is informational to nurses and is applicable to occupational therapists and physical therapists in a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient hospitals, outpatient private practices, skilled nursing facilities, long-term care, home health, and hospice environments.
