Course overview
In the field of behavioral health, which includes mental health and addiction, there is a growing recognition of the critical importance of including people with lived experience in clinical treatment and recovery settings. Those with lived experience are uniquely able to come alongside and support others struggling with a mental health issue or substance use disorder. In Recovery Peer Specialist, students will discover what a peer specialist is, the peer support movement's history, what recovery capital is, and the unique role peers play in inspiring hope in people seeking a return to health and stable recovery.
